Tim Goodman was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area until the age of 13 when his father's job took the family to England in 1973. After graduating from The American School in London, Tim returned to California, studied art history at the University of California where he earned his degree in 1985. It was here at Berkeley that Tim discovered the expressive potential of the photographic medium. This newfound interest quickly became a passion, the likes of which wreaked havoc on his already lackluster academic performance. When not on the road photographing or in the darkroom printing, Tim's day job involves the design and construction of residential gardens. His partner in crime in this venture is his wife, the painter, Lisa Toby. Together they head up the firm Goodman Landscape Design. Tim and Lisa live with their son, Cole, in Berkeley, California.
